AMI DOWDEN-FANT was born in Richmond, Virginia, and started her exploration of dance at the tender age of four. Ami trained in many dance styles such as Ballet, Jazz, and Modern just to name a few. She pursued her BFA in Dance & Choreography at VCU; there she had the opportunity to study with numerous artists such as Jawole Willa Jo Zollar (NYC), Tania Isaac (PA), Daniel Gwitzman (NYC), Robert Battle (NYC), and many others. Ami Dowden-Fant has been awarded numerous recognitions, which include an Outstanding Choreographer and Performer Award (VCU). Her choreography has been presented in the National American College Dance Festival Gala in NYC and Philadelphia Fringe Festival in PA. Ami Dowden-Fant danced professionally with Liz Lerman and the Dance Exchange out of Washington, D.C. and traveled across the U.S. performing and mentoring aspiring artists of all ages. Ami Dowden-Fant has taught classes and workshops at Wesleyan University, Department of Education in Washington D.C., and Arizona State. Miss Dowden-Fant was commissioned to choreograph for the William Penn School District in PA, Neighborhood Playhouse of NYC, and the Center of the Arts in Henrico County. Ami Dowden-Fant is instilled with the gift to educate and provide young aspiring dancers with a well rounded dance education. Miss Dowden-Fant is enjoying life as the Artistic Director of River City Dance & Performing Arts Theatre and watching the growth of her students along the east coast.
